Let’s learn more about the body of knowledge
Hello there! Word of the day is Body of Knowledge – the aggregated knowledge and generally accepted practices on a topic. It is the set of concepts, definitions, knowledge areas, activities, tasks, and techniques, that make up a professional domain. Simply put, that’s usually a huge, but comprehensive and academic encyclopedia. Body of Knowledge, or BoK, is defined by the relevant professional community.
There are lots of BoKs out there, but the most commonly known in the IT community are:
– Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK®) from the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®);
– Business Architecture Body of Knowledge (BIZBOK®) from the Business Architecture Guild;
– Business Relationship Management Body of Knowledge (BRMBOK®) from the Business Relationship Management Institute
– Common Body of Knowledge (CBK®) – for international information security professionals;
– Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK®) – for the profession of data management from DAMA International, The Global Data Management Community;
– Enterprise Architecture Body of Knowledge (EABOK®) – for the enterprise architecture (EA®) discipline;
– Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide®) – from the Project Management Institute (PMI®) for project managers;
– Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK®) – for the software engineering profession.
As for our beloved BABOK®, the structure of it is the following:
– Business Analysis Key Concepts (Model). It defines the key definitions, which you have to understand, to understand all other content;
– Underlying Competencies. A set of competencies, which describe hard, soft skills, and personal qualities, which BA has to have to practice business analysis effectively;
– Techniques. A toolbox of business analysis. Techniques described in the BABOK® v3 intend to cover the most common tools used by the business analysis community;
– Perspectives. Describe various views of business analysis. Perspectives help business analysts to better perform business analysis tasks, given the context of the initiative.

Щодо нашого любого BABOK®, в його структуру входять наступне:
– Пояснення щодо Моделі Основних Концепцій Бізнес-аналізу. Вона визначає ключові терміни, які треба зрозуміти, що порозумітись з усім іншим контентом;
– Компетенції бізнес-аналітиків. Хард та софт навички, особисті якості, які мають бути в БА, щоб можна було виконувати свою роботу ефективно;
– Техніки. Це інвентар бізнес-аналітика. Техніки, що описані в BABOK® v3, покривають більшість з того, що найчастіше використовує ком’юніті;
– “Перспективи”. Поясню різні точки зору на бізнес-аналіз. Вони допомагають аналітикам краще виконувати бізнес-аналітичні задачі в різних контекстах.
