Should I take a job in business analysis? Is business analyst a good career? Why should I choose it, is it any good, and if so, how good is it? These are the kinds of questions my friends and their friends ask me and each other a lot. Even experienced business analysts ask this themselves when they are looking into possibilities business analysis might create further. Unfortunately, there is no straight answer to this.
In this video, the next episode of the Passionate Business Analyst podcast, my guest is Jamie Toyne, a business analyst with over 15 years of experience. Jamie was behind establishing and managing some of the largest business analysis practices in the United Kingdom, having worked in digital and tech. His roles included Consultant Head of Business Analysis at the Ministry of Justice with over 60 BAs and Head of Business Analysis at the Department for Work and Pensions with over 300 BAs. He is also an active member of the wider digital and BA community, regularly speaking at conferences & events, writing articles & blogs, and an occasional book reviewer for the BCS.
In the video, we talk about lots of things, including:
- roles business analysts can take;
- unique value business analysts create;
- what is today’s state of business analysis, and is there a future for business analysts;
- how satisfied business analysts are about their jobs;
- how much BAs get paid;
- and many, many more things that answer the question is business analyst a good career!
