CRUD Matrix Example
The Role-Entity matrix illustrates which roles have access to which entities, defining the boundaries of data access based on user roles. For instance, in a hospital management system. Different roles like doctors, nurses, and administrators would have varied access to patient records, medication inventories, and appointment schedules. As you see, this artifact helps describe how each user can access data in a business process.
Matrix Variants
The Role-Operation matrix details what operations each role can perform. This is crucial for ensuring that only authorized personnel has access to sensitive operations like data deletion or updates. For example, a nurse might read and update patient records. But only an administrator might have the authority to delete them.
The Entity-Operation matrix shows which operations on each entity each user can perform, offering a clear overview of the functionalities available for each data entity. This matrix is particularly useful in understanding the scope of operations for various data types within the system.
Lastly, the Use Case-Role matrix maps out the roles involved in various use cases, providing a comprehensive view of how different user roles interact with the system in specific scenarios.
